E3 has been running for 24 years, join us as we take a look back at some of the craziest moments the expo has hosted.

1. “$299” E3 1995
Ok so this moment goes all the way back to the original E3. Back then you had Nintendo and Sega duking it out for supremacy while consoles like the 3DO and Jaguar was picking up what scraps were left over. People would assume that the big 2 would always be the main competition until Sony announced that they too were hard at work on a new gaming system. Prior to Sony’s conference Sega had come out showed off the Sega Saturn informed the crowd it would cost $399 and announced that it was available at certain retailers that day (months ahead of the original release date which angered retailers such as Wal-Mart.) How did Sony follow? Simple Steve Race head of the SCEA at the time walked out on stage and said one thing $299 and walked off stage to a crowd that completely went nuts. This is one of the first moments that cemented Sony as a force to be reckoned with.

2. Fallout 4 Reveal E3 2015
Ok so its 2015, we have gone 5 years without a single Fallout game a series that Bethesda wowed the gaming world with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Bethesda announced that they too would be having they’re own conference at E3 and to be honest I had no idea at the time what to expect. But then Todd Howard walked out on stage showed off gameplay of both Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter it was a definitely an amazing moment. What made it crazy tho was when Howard announced that not only was it coming it was releasing within just a few short months. If you want to know how to announce the return of a beloved franchise then take notes because that’s how you do it.

3. Final Fantasy VII Remake Reveal E3 2015
Final Fantasy is always going to be one of those games that just ooze importance. Yes say what you will about the 1997 JRPG but FF7 is an extremely important part to gaming, specifically roleplaying. It was the title that finally helped Squaresoft (now Square Enix) break into the main stream and showed gamers that RPGs weren’t something for the niche. Because of this a lot of fans have a soft spot for this entry and consider it one of their favorite games of all time. So back at the Sony conference at E3 2015 when a trailer announcing a remake of Final Fantasy VII played everyone lost their collective minds. Don’t believe me just YouTube some of the reaction videos.

4. Twilight Princess Reveal E3 2004
Back in 2004 fans were hoping that one day Nintendo would once again release a more “realistic” Zelda game after the release of Wind Waker. Well at E3 2004 Zelda fans got just that when Nintendo announced Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The announcement wasn’t the only thing fans were treated to they also got to see Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto come out on stage carrying you guessed it a Hylian Shield and a Master Sword. This moment is well remembered and has also been parodied but I cant help but look back at this as one of the best moments ever.

5. PS4 Game Sharing E3 2013
This may be the final moment I have listed here but it’s a moment that effected this entire current generation. That year Microsoft went first and announced a plan where a lock on pre owned games would have you pay a small fee to play discs that were already registered to a previous console. This means if you had a friend with a copy of let’s say Call of Duty and you wanted to borrow it well in order to allow you access to play you have to pay a small fee. Of course gamers weren’t to keen on this news and an almost immediate lash back went down. So of course when Sony takes the stage they couldn’t help but take advantage of Microsofts misstep by showing an “instructional video” on how to share games on PS4. The video show Shuhei Yoshida pass a game to Adam Boyle’s who replies with a thanks a knowing look to the camera and a PS outro. This was a huge shot at Microsoft that they never seem to recover from and gave Sony the momentum that helped them throughout this generation.
